QUEST FOR BASHKIM - YA Fantasy |
The last thing Mor and Sabella expect when they first meet is to be sent off on a cryptic journey but that is exactly what two mysterious magi expect of them. Born into the most powerful families in all of Afia, the adolescent boy and girl unknowingly descend from an ancient bloodline of Seekers. Their task is to follow the golden path and find the child who will ultimately travel to the world of prehistoric man as a teacher and spiritual leader. But the lands of Kumari Kandam are as mysterious and treacherous and they are beautiful. After encountering one civilization that has enslaved another, surviving a violent political coup and discovering a magnificent underground city, the golden path leads them into the fiery realm of Geldarkan, an evil lord who desires the child and his powers to destroy the burgeoning civilization of mankind. Mor is captured and now, not only must he find a way to escape and find Sabella, Sabella must continue alone through the dangerous lands and find the child before Geldarkan claims him. Unbeknownst to everyone, the skies have just entered the Age of Gemini and bring forth two blessed children, but which one is the Bashkim? Alternative historical theories insist that highly advanced civilizations predate Sumer. Derived from evidence put forth by Graham Hancock, Christopher Knight, Robert Lomas and many others, QUEST FOR BASHKIM is the 59,000 word Book 1 of THE LOST SCROLLS OF KUMARI KANDAM, a YA Epic series written to chronicle legends of demi-gods, demons and supernatural creatures from a mysterious lost continent and their powerful influence on the pre-history of mankind. STEALING HOME - YA Literary |
Every family has secrets and when revealed, truths become lies, black becomes white and good turns to evil. Such is the case in my novel, Stealing Home, a 60,000 word fiction piece set in 1972 during the turbulent times of forced desegregation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ricky Lewis is a white eighteen-year-old high school senior coping with his father's terminal illness. Truman Parker is a young black child growing up in the shadow of his mother's delusion that his father, James--a civil rights leader who was murdered by the Klan the year Truman was born--is still alive. By chance, Ricky and Truman cross paths and become unwitting pioneers for integration through the simple sport of little league baseball. But Ricky's father is a retired police officer who knows more about the unsolved murder of James Parker than he should. His deathbed confession details a desperate father's last chance to keep a promise to Ricky's dead mother - that James Parker was not killed by Klan, but by someone within his own church. Even worse, his father accepted a substantial bribe to hide evidence and finance Ricky's education, thus keeping him ineligible for the military draft into the Vietnam conflict. This bombshell rocks the very foundation of integrity and honor in which Ricky was raised and if he tells the truth, he'll destroy his father's memory and James will no longer be regarded as a martyr for civil rights. If he doesn't, a killer will go free. This horrible revelation forever binds Ricky to Truman and together they learn that family is not about birthright and skin color, but about love, forgiveness and letting go of the past. JORDAN'S WAR - YA Historical |
Behind the official history documents and studied texts, there are countless families whose lives are forever altered by atrocities and ruthlessness of war. JORDAN'S WAR is my YA trilogy (56,000 words each), encompassing the years 1861, 1862 and 1863 and all are complete. The stories are told by Jordan Sinclair, a twelve year old boy whose family endures and eventually triumphs during one of the most turbulent times in American history. Virginia has just seceded from the Union. The Civil War has begun. With few slaves in the region, the Sinclair family of Droop Mountain attempt to carry on as if nothing has changed. Even with their isolation from the battlefields, they cannot sustain neutrality as Jordan's cousins and neighbors answer the Confederate call to arms. The harder they try not to align themselves to either side, the more the conflict is thrust upon them. In Book 1 of the series, Jordan's older cousin flees the mountain to avoid the scandal of an illegitimate child, neighbors and kindred alike are angered when his father hauls wool for days to the northern textile mills to sell for gold coin instead of taking it to the southern markets for paper money, Jordan's arch-enemy is empowered with the duties of a Home Guard Private and harasses the family, while his own brother is arrested as a Federal spy. In all of this confusion, Jordan must learn that family loyalties can either save his life or get them all killed as lawlessness thrives and justice is a distant dream. Read Chapter 1 |
